The Science
Plasma: The 4th State of Matter
Plasma is a hot ionised gas consisting of approximately equal numbers of positively charged ions and negatively charged electrons. It is created by electrical energy from the plasma pen, which ionises the atmospheric gases at the correct distance from the skin surface and creates a small electrical arc, similar to a tiny lightning bolt.
When the arc hits the skin, it vaporises any liquid in the skin at the point of contact, forcing the surrounding skin fibres to contract and tighten immediately. The plasma vaporises the upper skin layers via heat, fragmentation and vaporisation. The vaporised skin cells form a tiny superficial carbon crust ‘dot’, which flakes away later as part of the natural healing process. The energy produced is also absorbed by the lower layer skin cells, causing micro-trauma, thus inducing the tissue’s natural regeneration process and cellular re-growth, along with collagen and elastin production.

Plasma Elite® is suitable for anyone with excess, loose, lax skin needing tightening and lifting. This treatment works particularly well for the eye area.
An improvement in skin laxity and appearance.
This depends on each individual client and the area being treated. The treatment program will be determined during the initial consultation. A maximum of 3 initial treatments, 8 weeks apart, may be required.
- Retinol or AHA acids for 4 weeks prior
- Received anti-wrinkle injections (Bot T) for 6 weeks prior
- Must not have a sun tan or have plans for a sunny holiday immediately following treatment
The tightening effects of the Plasma Elite® treatment are noticeable immediately, although the initial healed results will take 4-6 weeks to be evident. The final results from this treatment can take up to 3 months to develop fully as the internal wound healing and rejuvenation process continues throughout this period.
The effects of the Plasma Elite® treatment are long-lasting, and it is suggested to last up to 3 years. Permanent results are impossible following any skin treatment as the skin is a living tissue and will be subject to the natural ageing process. Results can be maintained by repeating the treatment at periodic intervals.
The Plasma Elite® treatment is very safe, and unexpected side effects are rare.
As with all medical treatments, there are possible side effects and risks associated with them. Such as;
Initial swelling, tenderness, and moderate discomfort are all typical temporary side effects expected from this treatment. Although rare, as with any treatment procedure, there are possible risks, including infection, scarring and temporal change of skin pigmentation.
A topical numbing agent will be applied post-treatment to manage discomfort during the procedure.
Yes, downtime is expected following Plasma Elite as the body goes through the natural wound-healing process. Inflammation is the first phase of healing. Swelling can be significant during the first 2/3 days, especially around the eye area. Proliferation being the second healing phase. During this stage, new tissue forms, accompanied by a healthy reddish, pinkish hue. The carbon-crusted dots will flake away naturally over the following 5-10 days – Full aftercare instructions, along with an aftercare product kit to use, will be provided for use during this healing period.

A 6 week post-treatment check-up appointment is required, and then again at week 12. The treatment can be repeated from week 8 if required.
