The primary purpose of this procedure is to intensify the colour of the lips as well as to enhance or restore the correct natural lip shape. This is achieved with the use of soft natural lip colours, or more striking colours, dependent upon the client’s wishes.
With the skilled art of micro-pigmentation application upon the lips, it is possible to help defy the signs of ageing by creating the illusion of youthfulness and fullness by adding definition, symmetry and colour.
There are a variety of advanced methods and techniques available to create different ‘looks’ for beautifully shaped, colour tinted lips. Lip Contour Definer, defines the outline to the lips. Lip Blush, a contour definer with a colour blush, blend for a softer, more natural contour appearance. Full Lip Tint, a contour definer with full lip colour coverage. And Voluminous Lips, a specialised, volumising technique incorporating tonal variations to a full lip tint treatment to create the illusion of full-volume, youthful lips. Prior to treatments a comprehensive consultation will take place which includes the completion of a medical history assessment questionnaire, essential for determining treatment suitability, along with product patch testing. A thorough discussion of the client’s requirements and expectations will be established in order to determine the best treatment solution.
During the consultation the Lip Enhancement template design and pigment colours will be determined with equal input from both the client and practitioner. Taking into careful consideration placement, shape, size and natural colouring. Only when the client is completely satisfied and confident with these choices will the treatment commence.
Clients are welcome to bring along to their appointment any favourite lip coloured cosmetics that they usually use!
Please note: If the client has recently received dermal lip fillers they are required to wait at least 1 month before having their lip enhancement treatment. If the client suffers from cold sores it is advised to complete a course of anti-viral medication 5 days prior to and during their treatment to avoid an outbreak.
The treatment is a 3-part process that is typically completed within 2 appointment sessions 4 – 6 weeks apart. The first appointment will consist of the consultation and the treatment procedure. The second appointment will be a repeat perfecting session of the initial treatment procedure. The full treatment requires these 2 treatment sessions in order to carefully layer the pigments into the skin so as to achieve maximum retention of colour and shape.
A work of art cannot be rushed! Treatment durations vary depending upon how advanced or detailed the required results are. The priority is to achieve the best possible result and to do this it is necessary to allow sufficient time to complete the procedure. Please allow up to 2 – 4 hours for your initial Lip Enhancement treatment appointment.
The initial treatment price is inclusive of these 2 treatment sessions. If required, any additional sessions are charged separately, per session.
Normal activities may be resumed immediately following the procedure. There will be slight tenderness, swelling and redness to the treated area which will generally subside within 24 hours.
The intensity of the colour will be significantly darker immediately following the procedure. This will reduce and soften during the healing process to deliver a more subtle, natural look.
The healing duration will take approximately 5 – 10 days, during which some fine crusting will occur which will naturally flake away during the healing period. It is crucial to the final results of the cosmetic enhancement that this crusting is not touched or removed prematurely whilst healing, and that the additional aftercare guidelines are adhered to for sufficient healing and to avoid any post treatment complications.
Full aftercare instructions will be provided both verbally and in hard copy following the procedure, together with an aftercare healing balm.
The longevity of permanent make-up is variable from person to person based upon factors such as skin type, age and general lifestyle. It is recommended that cosmetic enhancements be periodically maintained in the form of a ‘colour-boost’ re-touch to keep them looking fresh and at their optimum shape and colour. Generally, colour-boost sessions are recommended for every 12 – 18 months following the initial procedure.
